Using PuTTY to administer TrueNAS is easy and makes light work of heavy tasks.
When administering TrueNas Scale, you will sometimes need to connect from a shell interface, and
PuTTY« has to be at the top of the list of interfaces to use.
Simple instructions on setting this up.
- Open TrueNas Scale
Click [System]
Next, choose [Services]
Choose [SSH] and click the [Running] to a blue check. - Download PuTTY« Install, and then run
- Under: [Session][Host Name (or IP Address)]: 192.168.5.2 - [Port]: 22
Saved Sessions: (Give it a name) TrueNas - [To customize the Title Bar name] of the Console Window.
From the ◀ left navigation
Select [Windows] / [Behaviour][Windows title:]
example: [192.168.5.2 - TrueNas - Putty] - Click Save.
- Click Open
You should now have a window [Putty Security Alert] (Choose [Yes]),
Or you may only see a prompt for your TrueNAS Scale [Credentials].
After typing in your Username and Password, you should now have your prompt to administer your TrueNAS Scale system from Putty.
